I just got engaged - what do I do now???
First of all - CONGRATULATIONS! take some time between getting engaged and planning your wedding to absorb and enjoy the amazing feeling of being so in love that you are ready to commit your lives together! When the excitement of the moment starts to fade it's time to get to work! Start talking about your DREAM wedding and decide on the four most important elements of any wedding - BUDGET, PRELIMINARY GUEST LIST, DATE and LOCATION. Once those have been decided on (or just roughly estimated), book a FREE consultation with a wedding planner in your area to discuss how to make your dream a reality!
What does a wedding planner do and why do I need one?
A professional wedding coordinator's job is very simple - to ensure that your ideal wedding and your real wedding are as close to each other as possible. A planner can assist you with creating and sticking to a budget that fits your needs and resources, use their contacts and research to match you with the best vendors, finalize details, create schedules and make sure everyone is where they are supposed to be, when they are supposed to be there. A wedding planner will make your dream wedding as stress free and enjoyable as possible so you don't have to worry about a thing.
How much does a planner cost?
The cost of a wedding planner varies depending on the services you will require. Coordination packages can include everything from full-service planning including invitation addressing and helping you shop for the perfect dress to day-of coordination where we take your plans and make the day run smooth. It is also possible to use our consultants on an hourly basis to assist and guide you towards the perfect vendors and help you with any of the trickier aspects of your planning. For full-services, you can expect to pay between 10% & 15% of your budget. Day-of coordination packages start at $500 for a full day and include a personal assistant to the bride for last minute preparations and hourly fees can be negotiated with your planner.
It can't be that hard to plan a wedding,
isn't a planner a waste of money?
It used to be that only the rich and famous ever hired professional planners, now with most couples working full-time, going to school and/or raising a family, brides and grooms both are finding the wedding planning process time consuming and overwhelming leaving them with their less-than-perfect wedding experience. A wedding planner not only saves you time and stress, they will actually SAVE YOU MONEY by using their resources and experience in the industry to find you the best services, products and vendors at the very best price, often cutting through the hidden 'bridal tax' inexperienced couples inadvertently pay.
Whether you decide to hire a planning professional or not, remember that a wedding is a celebration, a single day in your life together to cherish your commitment and to rejoice in your future. It is your day and you should treasure every aspect, every moment and never look back with any regret. Congratulations!
