It’s over between us…

Wednesday, May 1st, 2013

The post below is a copy and paste that I just recently emailed to a groups of strong and determined women who joined me as friends not clients in a 2-month fitness challenge email-support group. We all set goals for the March 1 – April 30 time frame and said we would reward ourselves for our successes with an overnight shopping trip. Well it seems that March was a tough month for many and a few lost goal commitment and focus which is incredibly common and quite ok because it isn’t how many times you fall, it is how many times you get up.

Do you think that when I decided to quit my $300/day cocaine addiction and change my destructive lifestyle that I never fell? That I never quit or gave up on myself? That I never stopped caring, trying or believing that I could? Trust me, I did. I fell to my knees in defeat more times than I can count, but I kept getting back up so no matter where you are – you can always get to where you want to be – just by standing up and taking a step. One step and you are closer than you were – what do you have to lose???

Here is the challenge ending email I sent to them – maybe it will help some of you who are struggling with your goal commitment as well – I sure hope so!

Yep, it is over! Our two month challenge is kaput as of yesterday – how did you do? If you haven’t reached your goal, there is no reason to beat yourself up and feel bad, use it as a learning mechanism, let it teach you where and what you need to work on next time.
Autopsy your progress.
How close did you come?
Did you follow all of the challenges?
Did you eat regularly? Overeat? Make wrong choices?
How was your exercise commitment? Did you get at least 150 minutes each week of sweaty cardio? Did you include strength building and toning exercises at least 30 minutes 3 times a week?
Did you reach out for help when you needed it and adjust what you did accordingly?
Where could you have improved? Where did you succeed?
What will you do next time?
Remember – you cannot fail until you stop trying. I have only had 1 person other than myself make arrangements for their final weigh in – where are the rest of you? Why are you avoiding it? How can you figure out where you are going if you don’t know where you are? Have you quit on yourself? I hope not because I haven’t quit on you. I want to know what your answers are to the questions above. I want to know where you want to be at the end of June – do you still want my help? I am willing to help if you are willing to work.
As for me – I didn’t hit my goal this challenge but I came damn close and I am quite proud of myself because when I look at my numbers and do some figuring I realized that at the level I am at, the goal I set was unrealistic in the time frame we set and what I did was awesome lol.
My goal for the 2 month shopping challenge was to lose 2% body fat and 4-6” and between March 1 and April 30, I lost 1% body fat and 4.5” plus 5lbs to boot which shocked the hell out of me – I am now 25 pounds lighter than when I started my post-baby journey last March, and having lost 10% body fat – much leaner. I am pretty excited about that.
I played with my numbers and figured out that in order to have lost the 2% during this challenge like I wanted to, I would have had to lose over 8 inches in the 8 weeks – that is insane at my level and knowing that – I feel pretty damn great about where I am and what I did. Good enough to set a new goal for the next 2 months – I am going to do 1% and 4” again… anyone want to come with me?
